Aberdeen Library is trialing new hours for 3 months from 5th of February

Libraries in the Upper Hunter and Muswellbrook shires now offer even more to members, and it’s all still free.

There has been a huge growth in the collection of downloadable audio books and digital magazines available 24/7 at no cost!  It is also easier than ever to access online resources.

Upper Hunter Regional Library Network (which includes Aberdeen, Cassilis, Denman, Merriwa, Murrurundi, Muswellbrook and Scone libraries) has joined forces with Maitland, Cessnock and Singleton libraries to increase the digital magazines and downloadable audio books in the collection.

A large number of magazines can be downloaded free including Women’s Weekly, Belle, Wood, Better Homes and Gardens, Camper Trailer, Country Living, Girlfriend, Golf and Inside Sport to name just a few.
The audiobook collection, which reads the selected book to you, is equally impressive along with the e-book collection.  Library staff are available to help you set up your registration and explain the exciting world of digital collections which can help people to borrow books and magazines online.

It is also easier than ever to access online resources. There is a new Aurora library management system and library users will experience a much more accessible online member portal with enhanced access to digital resources. The new system will eventually see a significant decrease in costs for the Council.   The system is Australian owned and operated, with data stored within Australia and subject to NSW data protection and Privacy legislation, and is already used by a number of large library systems in NSW and Queensland.

To celebrate this new online system, everyone is invited to come along to Scone Library 10.30am, Thursday 16 November 2017 to find out more about how it works, including one-on-one advice to get connected and online.
Mayor Wayne Bedggood said the library enhancements were part of Council’s commitment to improving the availability of library resources to residents, while ensuring cost effectiveness of the services.
“I would encourage all residents to become library members – it’s free and easy to do, and the library staff are happy to help you explore the wide range of services available,” he said.

Join the library free online or visit your local library!

The branches of the Upper Hunter Library Network including Aberdeen, Cassilis, Denman, Merriwa, Murrurundi, Muswellbrook and Scone are undergoing some exciting changes. Member services at each branch will also be limited to loans and returns only.
