| LIBRARY RULES AND REGULATIONS POLICY |

| OBJECTIVES: |
| 1. To clearly state the rules and regulations which govern Library use. |
| 2. To allow a written statement of these rules and regulations to be produced as required. |
| 3. To provide a basis for the imposition of penalties |

| POLICY STATEMENT: |
| The following Guidelines will cover the acceptance or rejection of information materials to be displayed: |
| 1. Eating or drinking is permitted in appropriate areas of Branch Libraries. |
| 2. No dogs or animals may be brought into Branch Libraries, with the exception of Guide Dogs. |
| 3. Council facilities, such as telephones and staff toilets, shall not be used by the public. |
| 4. No books or other materials will be accepted for return to Libraries other than those belonging to the Upper Hunter Regional Library, except those borrowed to fill an Inter-library loan request. |
| 5. A current membership card or other appropriate identification must be shown in order to borrow Library materials. |
| 6. The Librarian (ie. the senior staff member on duty) has the right to ask any person to leave the Library premises if they are creating noise or disturbance, or if their conduct, dress or manner is likely to be offensive or interfere with any other person's use of the Library.
If any person requested to leave the premises refuses to leave then the Council Offices in each Shire or the Police are to be called for assistance.
Any person requested to leave the library premises may be excluded from those premises for such a period as may be determined by the Committee, or by the Regional Library Manager in consultation with the Executive member.
